Made with malt whiskies from the Yamazaki & Hakushu distilleries, as well as grain whisky from the Chita distillery. The whiskies are drawn from 5 different types of cask, including American white oak casks, Sherry casks & Mizunara oak casks. An elegant expression, with wafts of honey, orange, a herbaceous touch or two, & light oak. Melted butter & caramelized dates, with notes of sandalwood.

This wonderful peated Japanese single malt whisky hails from Hakushu distillery. On the nose you get toasted barley, chopped almonds & a little bit of barrel char. Hints of milk chocolate & dried grass bring sweetness.

MARS KOMAGATAKE 2022
The 2022 edition of Mars Komagatake single malt from the Shinshu distillery in the foothills of the Japanese Alps. Boasting a core of bourbon cask matured single malt, supported by portions matured in sherry & Port casks, expect plenty of sweet stone fruit, oaken vanilla, & honeyed nuts alongside the rich, oily malt at its core. Pepper & ginger, toasted hazelnuts & leathery oak.

ICHIROS MALT & GRAIN
This particular gem is made with both malt & grain whisky from Japan as well as (possibly) some whisky from other countries too – the label describes it as “a worldwide blended whisky”. Nose: Peach & dried apricot, sweet butterscotch, vanilla cream, citrus zest, banana. On the palette, toffee first, with notes of barley malt, gingerbread, tropical fruits, honeyed pipe tobacco.

MARS IWAI 45
The nose starts off nice & bright with melon, tropical fruits, a bit of coconut, & a slight ethanol tang. There’s a malty funk present, but its light & inviting. As it settles in the glass there are notes of sandalwood & recently burned incense.

This is a signature label in honor of Nikka’s founder Masataka Taketsuru, the first Japanese who mastered whisky-making in Scotland & brought this expertise back to Japan. A “pure malt” is a blend of malt whiskies from various distilleries, whereas a “single malt” is a whisky made exclusively from one distillery. Yoichi malts are described as bold & strong with refined peaty notes & smokiness brought by the traditional direct coal-fired distillation. Sea breeze from the Ishikari Bay delivers a briny hint to the whisky during maturation. This bottling expresses a delicate balance between peaty, smokey & fruity aromas. Full-bodied, smooth. A mellow peat at first, growing more powerful with time. The aromas then evolve towards c&ied citrus fruit, black liquorice & spices (nutmeg, ginger), & opens up with roots & dried twig aromas. Firm, powerful, complex.
